Duplicate check during account creation

With the new work on enhancing CCCApply can it please be prioritized to enhance duplicate checking BEFORE the creation of new CCCIDs? Please add multiple level match checks that could eliminate the creation of multiple IDs for students. Ideally the systems would match any two of name, DOB, email, phone number, address, or SSN, and prompt student saying "We see you may have a previous ID, can you confirm . . . [ask for an input of data elements that are different from the existing possible match, and if other elements that they then enter match, at that point ask the student to resolve the differing information.

    Hi Kip,

Thanks for posting this question, the answer will take me some time, and I'm in meetings most of today. This is something we are working on, and I'll respond with more details later today or tomorrow.

    Best regards,

    Hi Kip,

I finally got some time to answer this; sorry for the delay.

With the new account system's introduction, we hoped that enforcing a unique email and mobile number would reduce the number of duplicate accounts. Now that a year has passed, we find that, although it does help, it has not eliminated or reduced the duplicates as significantly as we wished.

We have had a lot of discussions on this topic with our support team over the past couple of months and are looking to do what you outline, starting with the DOB and last name match. I don't have a timeline for that improvement yet, but it is on our list. When we get close to having it done, I'll update this post.

Thank you for the suggestion. In addition to adding additional evaluations of the account data to determine a match, we will incorporate additional messaging and options for the student when we discover a potential duplicate.

    Best regards,

    Jane
