Accessibility and Articulate Storyline

We are in the process of developing an online course for the Chancellor's Office.  I was wondering if anyone has any experience with Articulate Storyline as an eLearning platform, with regards to accessibility.  Have you reviewed any Storyline eLearning courses for accessibility?  Are you aware of any issues?  Your perspectives are most appreciated.

    Hello Dave,
    Each course is going to be different.  The accessibility will depend on the way the designer uses the software.
    I have tested courses designed with Articulate Storyline and found inconsistent accessibility and I have tested courses in which I could find no accessibility issues.
    You may want to check if the course is going to be designed with Articulate Storyline 360 or not.  It appears to have the most accessibility options for content authors.

    I have recently checked a Storyline presentation and agree with what Nicolas says. Because Storyline introduces the use of media and the ability to set up a navigation system, there are more issues to be mindful of. The following are things I found as issues in checking the Storyline presentation, things to keep in mind:
    • Avoid auto-play for audio or video
    • Keep navigation between screens as consistent as it can be
    • Previous and Next buttons should have clear alternative text indicating what they do
    • Make sure that the video player controls are present
    • Use headings throughout
    • Be mindful of video that has content in the visuals only that is not represented in the audio – the visually disabled would not be able to take it in
    • Be mindful of video that has content in the audio only, that is not represented in the visuals or captions – the hearing disabled student would miss out
