Intl format field definitions

Hi. Is it possible to get clarification on the values used for the race_group field in the international applications?

Additionally, I am noticing that term description and major description are downloading as empty even though they are defined in the pilot.

thanks.

Hi there. You ask if you can get clarification... without a specific question or questions we are not sure what kind of clarification you are looking for. All term descriptions and major descriptions are downloading as empty, or just some? Have you updated your download client and upgraded to Java 1.7 or above?

The race group field is defined in the data dictionary as follows:

So I'm not sure what data to expect in it.

In the standard app, there is a similar field that is a concatenation of codes, one for each race type, separated by commas, but I don't see this in the intl app download file or DD, so I cant be certain.

Again, we haven't yet had our meeting to officialize us yet so maybe I'm not allowed to expect downloaded data to be correct yet. It would be good to understand that though so that I know whether to bother testing anything now.

I have the latest jar file and java version.

    thanks.

    Hi,

Yes, I do need to update the CCCApply International Application data dictionary with values for the race_group column. Once I can confirm those values, I'll update the documentation and repost it with the date of publication on the cover of the document.

However, in running my own test in the Pilot environment, I can confirm that none of these three fields is downloading (i.e. they download as blank even when I selected values for them in my test international application):

    race_group
    major_description
    enroll_term_description

This appears to be a bug. I'll work with Merrie to get these reported to our development team for follow-up.

Thank you for letting us know about your findings.

Thanks Diana. Let me know what you find out. If we can use the definition from the standard app DD, that would be sufficient to know.

In addition to the fields you listed above, I am also seeing app_lang and tstmp_download empty. There may be others but I haven't done extensive testing yet.

    thanks.

Thanks for reporting the additional fields as well. I've passed the steps to reproduce this issue to Merrie so she'll likely be the one to follow up next with any progress on this issue.

thx. the tstmp_download is probably not a problem, rather it seems to be the time of the most recent download (not the download that is happening), so it looks like it is empty for the first download only.

Hi. I am noticing that V.2016.3 of the international data dictionary now defines race_group and race_ethnicity to be equivalent to the fields race_group and race_ethnic in the standard app, respectively. Can you confirm that these are the final definitions for these two fields? (previously race_ethnicity was a 2 digit field with a single character value, and as mentioned above, race_group did not have any clarifying text).

    Thanks.

Mike,Yes the current data dictionary is how the race_group and race_ethnicity will be (bringing it into alignment with the Standard App) They are the final definitions currently.

Hi. I'll ask here since it was something I brought up here previously. Do we know whether the app_lang field is usable? It seems to be empty for most of our applications. The data dictionary says it cant be. thanks.

Mike,Can you email a screen shot of your format file of the app_lang field?
