MyPath and Placement

Will MyPath show students their placement in English, Math, and ESL based upon their responses in CCCApply? If it does show placement is it based on the CO published cut scores, local district cut scores, or allow a district to choose which one to display? Also, if based upon the responses in CCCApply no placement is given (such as when the applicant attended high school more than 10 years ago) what message does MyPath display?

Hi Mark,

Good questions!

The Multiple Measures Placement Service  (MMPS) has not completed the integration with MyPath to enable displaying recommended level of support for AB705 transfer level placements and the higher level math placements, which are derived by the MMAP decision logic for Math.  Current functionality within MMPS generates placement based on the statewide decision logic for both AB705 and MMAP.  MMPS does not allow for local customization of the decision logic for either AB705 or MMAP.

Currently, MMPS accesses multiple sources to determine the availability of high school transcript data for each student who submits an application on CCCApply.  Those data sources are as follows:
1 - California College Guidance Initiative
2 - CalPASS+
3 - Self-reported data collected in CCCApply

In the event that we do not have access to any data for a student, your college will be notified that no placement is available for that student.  Students who are not eligible to receive recommended support/placements should be placed using a locally developed guided self-placement process.

We are still in the requirements gathering phase for the student's assessment user experience inside of MyPath.  If you have any specific requests, you can email directly at

I'm happy to provide any additional information.

Thank you!
