How will the CCID and the SSID (Statewide Student Identifier System ) relate with each other

Will CCC eventually use the SSID as its CCID or will these IDs remain completely independent? I seem to remember earlier discussions about eventually transitioning to the latter in cccapply, but its unclear how that will manifest. thanks.

There are no plans for these two fields to merge.  SSID is the K-12 statewide identifier. CCCID is the California Community Colleges identifier.  However, discussions are happening at the state level for these two entities to exchange data to better track California students for reporting purposes.

Hope this helps.

Hi. Is there any update on this?

[edit: i should have maybe expounded, sorry. I am curious whether this will ever be included in the application (I don't see it in the DD yet, correct me if it is already there). Is this even legal to gather via your interface? thanks.]

Hello,

We have been getting this question frequently over the past week, and I feel it's important to share the information that I know about the data agreement between the CDE and the CCCTC, on behalf of the Chancellor's Office, regarding matching and collecting applicant's SSID information through CCCApply.

Last year, CCCApply entered into a data agreement (contract) with the state (CDE) to match OpenCCC CCCIDs with existing SSIDs in their state system.

The data agreement specifically calls for the following:
As incoming submitted applications are received, CCCApply system makes a call to the CDE system which looks at directory information and the CDE hs code for the student's CA high school of graduation (only CA). If identified, CDE will store the CCCID and in turn passes back the SSID, which is stored and made available to the CO.

Unfortunately, the details of the data agreement explicitly state that the SSID data would not be downloadable to colleges in this first phase of the data exchange.

Currently that's the status. We are bound by the data contract.

Unfortunately I do not have any additional information about future phases of a mutual data sharing exchange, but will share any information I am able to share as it is made available to me.

I hope this helps.

Thank you,
Patty Donohue

Hello,
Just wondering when the CDE SSID look up tool, that was mentioned in the MIS webinar on March 22, 2018, will be available on the CCCApply application process?
Thank you,
Samantha

Thank you very much Patty. That helps a lot.

It appears that some 3rd party etranscript systems may be assuming the CCCID is currently the same as the SSID. I am not sure whether that is why you are getting more questions recently, but its why I was interested in getting clarification.

thanks again,

Mike

Just bumping this because it looks like super glue will use (and require) the SSID.
