Delete Application? Student indicates CCCApply support said yes.

A student created an OpenCCCApply account and then successfully submitted an application to our college (We received and processed this application in our SIS).

The student then decided that they didn't want to attend and also decided that they didn't want their information to be retained by either OpenCCCApply or our college.  The student indicated that they contacted OpenCCCApply support and the support representative told them that the OpenCCCApply application would be deleted from their system (and had been deleted successfully during their conversation).  The support representative also indicated to contact the school directly to have their application/records deleted.

The application was not deleted from OpenCCCApply or from the school's SIS records and I was under the impression that once an application is submitted, it cannot be deleted.

Problem statement:
1. OpenCCCApply support should not tell students that applications can be deleted.
2. This information should be posted on the OpenCCCApply website (help section) detailing that once an application is submitted, the data/account cannot be deleted.

I thought it was strange they could delete the application, but according to the OpenCCC website in the privacy policy this is what it states:

Accessing, modifying and deleting your information: You have the right to access the records containing your personal information. You may modify or delete from the data stored on this website any personal information you previously provided. Your records can be accessed by logging into your account or by contacting OpenCCC Technical Support. If you wish to delete your data without reuse or redistribution, please contact OpenCCC Technical Support at:

Please be advised, once an application has been submitted to a college on your behalf, it becomes part of the records of the college to which it was submitted. If you believe there is an error on a submitted application, you must contact the college to which it was submitted for correction.
